kiln shelves for soda

Jon, I bought 12 shelves from alpha ceramics. I fire to c/ 6 -7 soda and =
the shelves have held up reasonably well.

As I understand, Alpha is no longer in business. They were just gone one =
day. A friend bought a bunch of shelves from them and suffered almost =
complete failure. They did nothing to try and help her.

Some of those testimonies are not true, the people were given the =
shelves to try.

I also have a student that uses the shelves from Jim at Larkin and she =
fires c/6 soda, they have the slits. They have held up well, but under =
limited duty. My shelves do not have the expansion slits, but the soda =
is pretty hard on them.

I fire about 15 plus firings a year. If I had to do over, I would also =
go for the advancers. I know that may not be an option. Feel free to =
contact me off list or by phone if you have more specific questions. =
Good luck, Mark Knott www.markknott.com=20

The people I found online were called alpha materials: http://=20
www.alphamaterials.com/NSiC_shelves.htm
they claim to be "a privately owned american company located in the =20
twin cities of minneapolis and st. paul, minnesota" This is the =20
company that I was referring to, at least. I don't know if this is =20
the same company to whom mark knott was referring.

www.CeramicSuppliesNow.com/ alpha ceramics is not the company in =20
question, so far as I know, as they only show corderite shelves on =20
their website.

Has anyone else actually dealt with a fellow named "Li" who works for =20=

alpha materials? I got a shipping quote from him, but didn't get an =20
actual price for shelves for some reason.

I still haven't gotten an email from the people at =20
"kilnshelf.com" (division of ssfbs.com) in minnesota. I'm very =20
curious to see what kind of a deal they can make on advancers.

reply
to the post by mark kott:
Thanks, Martin Butt

Mark,
There must be more than one Alpha Ceramics because Alpha Ceramic Supplies,
Inc. in Sacramento California is still in business for over 20 years now.
We
moved to a new location about 6 years ago and changed our street name to
Alpha Fired Arts a Creative Clay Learning Center, see
_www.AlphaFiredArts.com_
(http://www.alphafiredarts.com/) , We added a ceramic art gallery and a
classroom with throwing & sculpture classes for adults and kids to our
successful
ceramic supply business. Also we now have an on-line store under the name
www.CeramicSuppliesNow.com which is also owned by Alpha Ceramic Supplies,
Inc.
We have never left a customer high and dry on any product issue or we
wouldn’
t still be in business. Please refer your friend if they bought their
shelves in question from Alpha Ceramics Sacramento to
_Support@AlphaCeramics.com_
(mailto:Support@AlphaCeramics.com) to resolve any service issues. I can’t
remember anyone buying nitride bonded shelves from Alpha that have
completely
failed.
Sincerely, Brian Tanner President (800) 655-3611
