best pugger for the monies

Hi, I own the Peter Pugger VPM60 which replaced a Bailey A800 - no
comparing the two machines - they are totally different concepts. I will
not part with the VPM60 until they pry it's handle from my dead, arthritic,
clay covered hands!! It is wonderful!

I use it to "warm" up the clay and recycle clay. Each day I am building I
top the chamber with fresh clay from my supplier and run it until yesterdays
scraps and the "new" clay are well mixed and a little warm to the touch
(very nice for my arthritis too).

Does anyone have an opinion on the best pugger for a small hobby studio. My
hands, neck and shoulders suffer with wedging too much.
Any opinions on the Peter Pugger?

Thanks for any advice.

For my money the best small pugmill is the Bluebird studio pugmill
with extruder attachment. I sold the one I bought in 1979 to a friend
in 1989 and it is still in service with only minor parts
replacements. Most parts are stock "off the shelf" from major
suppliers like Grainger so you can just walk in and get what you
need. It does an excellent job at reclaiming scrap and it powerful
enough to do small extrusions. The only reason I sold it is that I
moved up to a Bluebird Powerstar.

We have been using a VPM 20 for a couple years in a small school studio and
have found it almost indispensible for mixing/pugging reclaimed clay.

I would think the newer, smaller table top version would work great in your
situation.

Dear Mary Adams ,
You ask.....
..........Does anyone have an opinion on the best pugger for a small
hobby studio. My hands, neck and shoulders suffer with wedging too
much. Any opinions on the Peter Pugger?.......

Which ever manufacturer you select be sure to base your selection on
your estimated weekly turnover of materials and allow some leeway for
the possible expansion of your business. How long do you wish to spend
manufacturing or reclaiming feedstock ?

Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.
