pottery in the white house

Hey Jeff,
I actually have that plan in the works. I threw 44 tea bowls the
night of the inauguration. I am using Chicago brick clay and ancient dune
sand for the outside coating.

So far I have fired about 8 of them, when they are all done, I will pick ou=
t
the best 4 and send them to the white house.

I will let you all know, if they make it past security.

Regards,
Jim

Perhaps it would be good if some of our Chicago based brethren sent the
Obama's a GIFT of handmade pottery. Maybe make a few phone calls to their
Chicago friends, who had interaction with the Obama's when they lived in
Chicago, and offer a gift. (back channel in other words)

I'll just throw this out.

Maybe Lill Street Gallery could offer a gift? "Enjoy these high quality
hand crafted pots while you enjoy the White House."

Walter and Joan Mondale were citizens of Minnesota so they had a
familiarity with hand made pottery. (Probably thanks to Warren Mackenzie an=
d crew.)

Chicago probably doesn't have as pervasive a "pottery ethic" as Minnesota
such that the idea of giving hand made pots is not at the forefront of the
Obama's gift giving thinking.

Maybe its time WE encourage such thinking?
