i'm home in the studio after almost 3 years of MFA self indulgence. I
looked at the work that Sheila and i have been making in our studio
and I'm tired of it- carbon trap shino with coloured slips. Beautiful
and it's been a living for over 6 years but i want change. Sheila
asked if i had a plan. I said take a few weeks off, do some gardening
and let me figure this out. I'm going back to my roots of white, green
and black. It's about the forms, the texture, the patterns and i've
had enuff of the maverick glaze- shino. It'll take me two weeks to
fill the kiln twice- my kind of glaze testing!!!! My workshop at
Metchosin in July is going to be big on texture and pattern so I'm
gearing up for that. gotta set the bar for Vicki. It feels good to be
making pots of a functional scale again.
cheers,
Tony
