the other day I was cutting the lawn with my trusty John Deere. I saw
a memory card on the lawn that looked like it was from my camera.. It
was!!!! My little daily companion Lumix had fallen out of my fleece
and I had mowed over it. I've had a Hasselblad, a Leica, a couple of
Pentax but now I'm just a point and shoot kinda guy. I'm buying a new
camera in the under $150 range. It will probably be better than my
Lumix which I paid $239 for about 3 years ago. It was a trusty little
camera that followed me to China, Italy and all over the States. Every
pic on my blog is from that camera. A friend came in the studio
carrying her fancy smanzy Nikon in what was almost a airline carry on
case. No thanks I take mine everywhere. It was usually on my belt but
i screwed up and put it in my fleece.
Did my Google research and it looks like the Nikon L19 for $129 gets an "A"=
.
I figure the money I've saved on film is worth the price of a few new camer=
as.
I will miss my little friend.
Cheers,
Tony
P.S Sheila sends her 87 year old father Eddie's jokes each morning. He
looks forward to them each day. Don't stop Eddie! The world needs
characters of colour , all kinds of characters and all of the colours.
PC is a pain in the royal arse. And by the way I've always said I
can't wait for Quebec to seperate from Canada since it will make it a
shorter drive to the Maritimes.

The best camera is always the one you have with you. I have an nice =3D
digital SLR camera that I only use for shooting pictures of pots. =3D20

The camera that I use the most is one that is covered in clay and =3D
tempera paint in my classsroom. It's a Kodak Easyshare. Around 100 =3D
bucks 3 or 4 years ago. If the kids are doing something interesting, I =3D
just pick it up and shoot. If the kids need to photograph something at =3D
school, I just hand it to them and off they go. This camera looks a bit =
=3D
knicked up, but it's a little workhorse. When it dies, I hope it dies a =
=3D
noble death in the mulch like Tony's.

I have a really old Pentax with no light meter, got it for 20 bucks, nice
and clean. Then I got an old light meter from a 8mm movie camera, which
although it calibrates differently than the SLR, still get ballpark close.
With film we got now, hardly notice. When I had darkroom access I used to d=
o
quite a bit of B&W with it but it takes good color pics too. My photo skill=
s
have gotten much better since the digital age, as have my writing, my
ceramics, my printing, and everything else. We are in a technological
revolution, and when the economy picks back up (it will) you will see more
and more of it.H A N S E N
