Does anyone have experience refiring majolica glaze (ala Arbuckle) to get
rid of pin holes or areas of the surface clay body where the glaze didn't
absorb at all! And why would that be? Why would the glaze not adhere?
Thanks.

Centa, It works perfectly for me. What temp do you bisque at? I
bisqued at 06 and used the 03 majolica.
I think she has the glaze well tested. I imagine it is a
bisque, firing or clay problem.

I have not done majolica . I do once-fired ^6
porcelain clear glazed for later overglaze work and
sometimes underglaze, then clear glaze and then overglaze later...
It seems to me that working color over an unfired
white glaze would be similar to working
over dry unfired porcelain .... so , Im hoping this might help:
When I ve had trouble with the glaze pinholing, it was because
the glaze was on too thin .
And I have had some minor crawling problems if I finger
sanded the clay and had a layer of clay dust on it. Now,
I lightly mist the dry clay with water just before I apply
the glaze and I have no problems.. ( famous last words)
....Im wondering if the glaze crawling might be dust on the bisque...=
