As I recall some one out there said they had a fantasy/day dream about
converting a weber grill into a kiln.
What came to me last night was a kiln I'd seen which was fired with an
internal "riser".
The burner fired into a trench which led into an internal stack so that th=
e
flames came out into the kiln in the middle of the ware chamber.
Sorta like a tube muffle kiln but with one tube in the middle.
So the weberized version would be a refractory tube coming up into the
middle of the 'que ending about mid height.
The exhausts would be at the bottom co-axial to the tube.
This would lend itself to a preheat design of 2 concentric tubes with the
fire entering through the middle tube and the exhaust flowing around it in
the outer tube.
