natural gas vs. propane burners...noise issues

I am hoping that this posting won't be moderated out...
Kelly,
Noise in burners is primarily a function of the pressure of the gas/air =3D
coming through them. Put propane through at 10 psi, or throw in a =3D
blower, and you'll have a noisy burner. I fired a propane kiln at 11 =3D
water column inches (a bit over 1/4 psi, similar to household natural =3D
gas pressure) for years, and it was whispery quiet. Made it a pleasure =3D
to make adjustments in the still of the night. Natural gas at regular =3D
household pressure is also quiet, on it's own. However, that wasn't =3D
enough to get my current kiln to temp, so I had the utility company =3D
boost my pressure to 14 water column inches (about 1/2 psi), and even =3D
though I have no blowers on the burners, the kiln is significantly =3D
noisier than my old propane one. =3D20
So, once again, it all depends...
Keep your chin up!
