older pacifica noise, thump..thump...

Adding to what Mel and Michael are saying here=3D2C and I apologize=3D2C I =
have=3D
n't had time to read much of this thread. So fyi if this applys: On the o=
=3D
lder and I mean older Pacifica wheels=3D2C the belts had a virtualy invisab=
le=3D
"knot" of denser material where the belt ends were bonded. This would se=
=3D
t up a thump with each revoultion of the pulley which was transmitted thru =
=3D
the legs to the wooden floor which amplified and resonated the thump. Pad=
=3D
ding the leg ends=3D2C or setting on concrete temporarily solved the noise =
pr=3D
oblem until Pacifica sent new belts made with a different bonding process.

this has come up on clayart many times.
=3D20
the first cure is belt dressing. you can buy it in
spray can form.
that was the old cure. belt squak was common with
the older pacifica wheels.

if it is bearings=3D2C take Michael wendt's advice. lube.
=3D20
it is always a standard practice to isolate the sound.
that is how the professional mechanic works.
