This seems obvious, but do you have relationships with interior

I have a few designers who have used my services more than once, but
not any that I'd say I have a regular relationship with, and no
architects. What I do is so specialized that even those designers who
really like what I do and want to use me say they only get maybe one
clint a year who they can talk into it. And most architects don't
seem to care that much about the finished details of furnishings.
I've tried cold calling designers and architects, and once worked my
way through most of the Yellow Pages locally. I never got any work
from any of the designers I called on. They would see me, but I got
the impression I was mostly an annoyance to them. My experience with
designers is that they are, as a group, one of the least imaginative
sets of people I've met. Most of them are really good catalogue
shoppers and can tell you exactly where to get anything. But as far
as actually coming up with something custom, or helping their clients
do that, most of them don't want to take the time.

Perfect Paul!!!
This is excellent news for you.
I see this paragraph as the perfect way into their world.
They have a need and you can fill it.
Use their laziness to your advantage, rather than complain
about it.

Give them a catalogue ... online or on a cd or on paper.
They need a picture place where they can see everything
you make so they can easily recommend it without having
to do any actual work.

Start thinking of presentation as a total package.
The total scenes are daunting to the un-imaginative so
start your catalogue with individual tiles used with
plain tiles as accent pieces.
Then work up to multiple tiles in plain tiles.
Then to the larger scenes.

Give them size and pricing without many options.
Options make people STOP and think which leads to
them deciding it's too much trouble.
YOU have to make it easy to choose, easy to order and
easy to install.

As to the lazy designers, they get a free tile trivet or wall
piece with every order. They love free stuff and are never
shy about taking it.

I find that many people do not know what it means to "work on your website"=
.
To many, this means keeping it current. Certainly, a stagnate web site is
not going to get a lot of traffic. If people have been there, go there agai=
n
and nothing has changed, they don't come back. But in terms of getting
traffic, you need to also rank well in the search engines. And to do that,
adding new content is not always sufficient.

One of the things that search engines look at and use to rank a site is the
number of links that site has coming to it. If links were shared among this
list, I am willing to bet that people would see a significant increase in
traffic.

Here is a link that explains this further:

Thanks to Vicki Hardin for her suggestion of sharing links to each
other's websites to increase traffic. and to Brian Gartside for
following up on that suggestion. I would be happy to participate as
well. You may view my site at www.jackpots-pottery.com and if you would
link to my site from yours, I will happily reciprocate. Please contact
me off list. Thanks, Jackson Gray
