thanks for the quality input from members.

computers are just getting cheaper and better.
no question about it.

i have re/built about twenty computers and have
sort of given them away...i charge for the cost of
adding xppro, that i get from a local used computer guy.
i just get a code. pay about 50 bucks. ( i don't bootleg.)

i have built used computers for some of the older/seniors
that i swim with. they work great.

used monitors are not very common.

i have gone to a larger samsung that i got at sam's club..for
about 300 bucks.

but, office depot and such have them for far less...and smaller
versions.

a nice flat screen monitor of a larger size will change your life.
clear, big and pretty.
with so many more moves, my space, utube etc, the big screen
is really nice....and, if you are going to enjoy digital photography,
a good monitor is a must.

i have gone to a canon pixma printer, 3/1. and, i love it.
i have had four printers over the last few years, and all have
fouled. ink sticks and clogs...this one is perfect...they have
figured it out.

my main computer of about 5 is a home made one by gail galusky.
it is a dream machine. fast, quick and i have about three systems
for keeping it clean.
avg for both spy and virus, and i use paretologic that i pay for.
i have been virus free for three years.
but, i have to work at it.

that would be the same for me/with 8,000 people that have my
name in their address books. mac or pc, i am very `at danger`.
it is hard to find a new mac for 500 bucks...and, i know they are
wonderful, but to get the same machine i now have in mac would
be about 1200 bucks more. ( i have a pc brain, understand the
guts and know how to fix them...mac is a mystery...so, why
change now.)

sharlene has a used dell upstairs, it works fine. email and a little
browser.
i have a big E machine that i re/built at the farm (free)...and two ibm
commercial machines that i picked up. both are clean and dandy..
(that old emachine is perfect for dial up at the farm...you should try
44.5 speed. it takes hours. that always makes me appreciate high
speed.)

i have scavenged hard drives from dead computers. i get a used
external case, and add them to various computers as back ups.
i use carbonite on this computer for both my stuff, pix and ridatick
business back up.,...critical. of course, if you are writing a book,
backup is your best friend.

i can buy a used 80 gig hard drive for 30 bucks. add the case
and home free.

i saw a 150 gig flash stick for 35 bucks yesterday in the sunday adds.
man, can you believe that...150

so back up is cheap as is added RAM. you can make your
machine double its speed by adding 50 bucks of ram.

just be careful of the guys that will `clean your machine for 300 bucks.`
they do nothing.
you must clean and add ram. that should be no more than 90 bucks.
don't leave your computer with a dork. check it out.

the easiest purchase is to call dell, tell them you want a 500 dollar
new one...and they ship it. arrives at your door in a week.
they have good packages with monitors that are really ok.
just don't get driven up in price. i do that system for older
folks that don't want to hassle `best buy frantic sales`.

so, most computers are really good now days. what is inside
comes from the same places. we don't have many hard drives
built my `bobby's screen door and hard drive inc.` things are
working well.
just keep it clean.

No, I can't.

Pull the other one---it's got bells on it.
