An update: =3DA0My son is in kindergarten!!!!!

How is this relevant to clay? =3DA0Well here's the deal...

I took a hiatus from selling work for the last 5 years while I cared for an=
=3D
d tended the boy. =3DA0
=3DA0
I still worked but in research and development of new designs and working m=
=3D
ethods. =3DA0
=3DA0
I worked really hard on my brushpainting.=3DA0=3DA0=3DA0I made a DVD (for s=
ale no=3D
w!) on brushpainting. And I started doing workshops on painting.=3DA0 I wan=
t =3D
to travel and teach with it now.
=3DA0
I challenged myself to build and fire a woodkiln. I had a Potter's Council =
=3D
Workshop at my newly built studio space, Natural Instincts.
=3DA0
And I tested color application and firing techniques a lot so that I could =
=3D
speak about them from experience rather than theory, important for me in a =
=3D
teacher and so I wanted it to be true of myself.

All things that I could do in drips and drabs, starts and stops while tendi=
=3D
ng a baby/toddler/child. =3DA0But that part of the show is over and I need =
to=3D
start making things to sell again now that I have time again!
=3DA0
I also designed an image embossing system for clay called a PRESS.=3DA0 (Se=
ri=3D
ously, a LOT of time is on your hands dealing with one small baby, time to =
=3D
think and read and sketch, but=3DA0NOT time to market and call and make.=3D=
A0 A=3D
nd we are out here on the coast with no family nearby, so it was all me all=
=3D
the time.=3DA0 I loved it but am glad to be back to my first job, clay!)
=3DA0
This is an industrial design tool that makes you able to basicly print low =
=3D
relief images on clay in any shape.=3DA0 Since I am known for tiles and mer=
ma=3D
ids were the first thing I ever painted seriously, I went with Mermaid tile=
=3D
s for my test run of the production line.
=3DA0
There are 8 mermaid designs, glazed in a blue and green translucent glaze o=
=3D
ver heavily carved images of mermaids.
=3DA0
Here is where I need help.=3DA0 I am ready to work and sell them, since he =
is=3D
in school and I have between 8-2 each day back for working and selling.=3D=
A0=3D
Staying home was a financial hit, as all of you know, and 5 years is a lon=
=3D
g time in gallery years, especially in economies like this.
=3DA0
So, what I need is a new introduction to some galleries that sell nautical,=
=3D
women's interest, mermaid, sea, or tile clay work.=3DA0 Things like this:
http://open.salon.com/blog/epriddy/2009/07/17/epriddys_new_mermaid_tile_pot=
=3D
z
=3DA0
I designed them for simple shipping and to retail at around $60 each.=3DA0 =
I =3D
am looking for 10 galleries that can sell them, probably in coastal or othe=
=3D
r water venues.=3DA0 My dream gallery sells consistently throughout the yea=
r,=3D
is in a larger city with a stable customer base, and that loves clay.=3DA0=
I=3D
have one that I stayed with over my hiatus and we are good to go, but thei=
=3D
r primary seller for me is my brush painted tile work.=3DA0
=3DA0
So for anyone with a good lead, I would really appreciate it.=3DA0 I am fin=
di=3D
ng them on my own, but I figured I would ask the people that actually know =
=3D
instead of mass marketing with the new Ceramics Monthly=3DA0Gallery Guide (=
my=3D
first plan of attack, but=3DA0wow that's an awesome =3DA0lot of informatio=
n to=3D
filter!).
=3DA0
The Mermaid PRESS Series is ready to go.=3DA0=3DA0 So if you know of=3DA0 f=
ew goo=3D
d galleries or are a good gallery owner (!) please write me offlist.=3DA0 I=
k=3D
now this is not a request that I have seen on Clayart before, but there is =
=3D
a first time for everything.
=3DA0
I will follow up with how it worked.=3DA0 I have confidence in my friends o=
n =3D
Clayart.
=3DA0
And thanks for even reading this long and weird request!

Whee Elizabeth! It's been great to watch you and hear you over the years
becoming the YOU you are today. I am out of touch now but the Farnsworth
Museum in Rockland Maine, (Penobscot Bay), has a beautiful new selling
gallery on Main Street and there is another very good one I will check out
with my sister Pat Nick of the Vinalhaven Press. ( The Smithsonian purchase=
d
everything her press has produced a few years ago).

Is your press similar to the one designed and pictured on Linda Stauffer's
web site? I am very curious. Lori Pierce, Orange Park, Fl.

Thanks for the lead!...

The PRESS is a soft, flexible material with an image raised up on the surfa=
=3D
ce that can wrap in and around 3-D forms. =3DA0Not like a slab mat or a rub=
be=3D
r stamp, but a print transferring medium that works on any shape of clay. =
=3D
=3DA0You set it in the clay slab or form and then manipulate the form until=
y=3D
ou have the shape you want, then remove the PRESS, and your image is there =
=3D
where it remained protected while you worked the surfaces. =3DA0The image, =
cu=3D
ring, and prep take about one day and can be any size, from a small name to=
=3D
a logo to a large mermaid drawing.
...
So the only reason these are flat is because I make things that hang flat f=
=3D
or the most part and it is convenient for the studio set up....
It is an individual rubberized stamp embossing system, not a tile press at =
=3D
all. =3DA0...
So, no, not like that! =3DA0But it makes production of very unique items qu=
ic=3D
k, painless, and cheap. =3DA0...
I am wood firing a large group of pots with the fish designs later this mon=
=3D
th, so I will have more pictures then.
...

These were made with the fish design.http://open.salon.com/blog/epriddy/200=
=3D
9/05/26/one_fish_two_fish_left_fish_right_fish
...
And these were made with the ocean series.http://open.salon.com/blog/epridd=
=3D
y/2008/08/06/potzthe_ocean_series

...anyone know how to make chrome scan write when posting a yahoo email?
