------------
Storing your kiln in sub-zero weather should not harm the
digital controller. Before firing the kiln, though, raise
the temperature near the kiln to at least 32 degrees F. That
is the minimum recommended operating temperature of a
digital controller.

Programmable controllers do have a temperature range in which they will
operate properly. Check your owner's manual or kiln makers web site.
Usual range is something like 20F - 120F.
Too cold - position a portable space heater (one of those small ceramic one=
=3D
s
works well) near the controller to heat it at the start of the firing if it
is too cold for it to function. Once the kiln heats up, then the heater is
not necessary.
If you get the heater with fan only function, that can be used when it's to=
=3D
o
hot.
How about throwing an electric blanket over the glazes & clay?
