While I was in Berkeley, California last August, I
videotaped John Toki, co-author of "Hands in Clay," fire
raku in a microwave oven. He used Paragon's MagicFuse, which
is a small chamber that fits inside a microwave oven. I have
just loaded the video to Paragon's website:

Glistering Phaeton on tue 6 oct 09
Dear Arnold,
That looks like fun, on a very small scale! I'd like to note though that
the vent on the microwave used in the video in no way helps to clear the ai=
r
of anything harmful. It's the type that is mostly a grease/odor trap that
then pushes the air back into the kitchen. The "filtered" air would still
contain all the bad stuff burning off the clay and glaze.
Of course, I'm not sure that - given the amount of clay/glaze involved - it
would be much of an issue.
