maria glaze

Does anyone have the recipe for the David Shaner's Maria Glaze?

I've only seen it in pictures but it's SUCH a beautiful glaze.

Also, article mention that it was fired in heavy reduction so is
there also a special firing process? (aside from making sure your
kiln is properly vented to deal with the manganese).

I found a reference to it in an old Clayart post, but not the recipe.
It did mention it had 30% manganese!! Not worth the risk in my
opinion. No venting system gets all the fumes out.

Des asked for a citation. I quote Edouard:

Bill,

I will make a few comments :

1-Blood manganese is not a Biological Esposure Index (B.E.I.)
A B.E.I. relates directly to the severity of exposure of the
patient. It means if you do no have the means to measure the
exposure, the B.E.I. is sufficient. This the case
for lead not manganese.

2-Parkinson-like disease is the only clinical
entity generally accepted and caused by over-exposure to manganese.

3-In Parkinson's, tremors appear at rest while in Parkinson- like they
are intentional.

4-Often times the only clue to diagnosis is a history of exposure
to manganese. 5-Manganese fumes appear 5 times more toxic than the dust.
