I've heard of using vinegar in the production of mocha ware to get the nift=
y slip effects. Is this an example of its flocculating prowess, or is some=
thing else going on chemically during that particularly specialized process=
?
Found this in a little article online, although it was from an antiques mag=
azine, so it may not be completely technically acurate:
"To achieve this decoration, potteries concocted so-called mocha teas, whic=
h were acidic solutions typically composed of vinegar, hops, tansy (an arom=
atic herb), and urine and colored by either tobacco juice or printer's ink.=
"
And you thought the vinegar made your clay smell bad, how about some stale =
urine! Yummy!
