Kiln venting

Organic matter such a leaves , wood grasses that are embodied in the
clay from millions of years of decomposition, etc will burn out at less
than 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. Paper etc will burn around 400 degrees F.
and since there is considerable organics in stoneware type clays it is
best to vent the kiln or room during the early part of a firing. These
organics produce carbon monoxide when burned and carbon monoxide doesn't
smell ,so that is a crucial time to be careful. Don't stay in an air
tight room, you could take a dirt nap ..... Carbonaceous matter burns
out at between 4 at about 450 degrees Fahrenheit and 750 degrees
Fahrenheit. =3D20
