remember, this is a very well thought out, academic, serious
book about creativity. play is just a word and a direction
for exploration. it becomes an adult use of creativity. my thought
has always been that play is a dirty word for adult artists...we are not
children, never can be again...but, we can enter the realm of natural
creativity in many ways.

nils wants to guide you to that place.
it is just a word. it has many adult meanings.
nils' book has a magic to it that will appeal to many of you.
i get no commission from nils, but he should at least take me
to dinner.

Sadly, most adults are really terrible at playing.

They have to follow rules ... and there have
to be a lot of them.
They need special equipment and clothing.
They have to keep score so they know who wins.
Someone has to win.
They have to be better than you at something.
They have to know how to do things 'right'.
They would rather not play than risk making a
mistake.
How sad.
BOO HISSS

... yes,
I am now going to my studio to PLAY ...

how else to describe the joy of doing exactly what
you would be doing even if you did not have to?
