several thoughts:
1. if it does degrade, just replace.
if you are getting what you want, it is the price
of doing business.

2. coils are like light bulbs, they burn out, learn to
replace your own. if you reduce, and get 50 firings, it
is well worth it.

3. we know itc works great on electric kilns.
i have used it many times. and, it takes about
a pint to do a medium kiln. that is a few bucks, and
it works.
we have made three gas/electric kilns and they work just
fine. there are hundreds of them out on clayart land/working potters
in cities...etc.

my theory on electric coils coated with itc100: they last
a long, long time.
it does work.
so.
there you have it.
many think a burned out coil is like the kiln is ruined...just
replace it.
an hour job. it is a light bulb.
mel
and james, you can do the research about coils and
reduction...report back to us.
