cone 6 stony matte

I have posted 22 cone 6 Reduction glaze recipes on my website: dianapanciol=
i.com
(Look for Glaze Forward in the vita section and when it comes up, scroll do=
wn).

They are designed for reduction.
You may not be able to find a stony matte glaze that works for both oxidati=
on and reduction.
Reduction encourages more melting so a glaze that is mature in reduction
may be immature in oxidation.

In fact, I subscribed to your "glaze forward" project when it was
first announced and am now using
several of your glazes at the Washington Heights Art Center where I
teach. Our kiln cools so slowly (8" of fiber
sprayed with ITC coating) that your temmoku is a beautiful spangled
almost iron red glaze, not just black
breaking to brown. We also use your shino, chun, and textured blue, I'm
not sure if the copper red we use
is yours or from Bailey's Cone 6 book.

Woo Yellow is pretty matte. That recipe was in Ceramics Monthly a year
or so ago.

For those who have a hard time finding things on web sites, here is
the direct link to the PDF file describing Diane's uber-excellent
Glaze Forward project:

Her main page is:

In case don't know, Diana worked to develop this series of cone 6
reduction glazes using mostly cone 10 recipes as a starting point.
The 22 glazes that worked well are featured in this PDF; it contains
the recipes, pictures, chemistry, and comments including leach
testing.

It's a great resource for anyone interested in giving cone 6 reduction a sh=
ot.

Hoping to see you at NCECA, Diana!

Best,
Maurice
