Hi Celia -

I did not reply to the Niche question
because everyone has such varied
experiences with it that it is hard to
give a good answer. It depends on
the appeal of your product, the quality
of your image and your placement
in the magazine.

As to wholesalecrafts.com ... I can
offer some informed advice since I
was on the site for ten years.

Tour the site.
Find other potters whose work looks
like yours and e-mail them to ask how
they are doing. Trust their feed back
since most of them will be honest
about it.

See if you can find other artists in any
media who are in Canada. Ask if they
get any resistance from the idea of
customs, fees, etc.

DO NOT be pressured to pay and join up
untilYOU are ready. Images done, pricing
ready, shipping fees in place. Don't try
to play catch-up.

Feel free to e-mail me off list if you have
more questions.

Hi Celia,
I have been on wholesalecrafts.com for a few years.=3DA0=3DA0 Til last Janu=
ary,=3D
I averaged 2-4 orders per month....and then the bottom fell out for me, on=
=3D
that site. I decided to run a featured item for 3 months, just to bring my=
=3D
work to the attention of buyers. They email that to all their buyers every=
=3D
Monday.=3DA0=3D20
That has not helped.=3DA0 Tho I can see that I have had some activity at my=
s=3D
ite, tho not a lot, orders have been flat.
Right now, I am staying on the site, tho it has become less than lucrative =
=3D
for me in the last 10 months. I am doing better in my own retail gallery, a=

ttached to my studio and with a few regular accounts that occasionally plac=

e a reorder.
Best of luck!

Hi and Happy Thanksgiving to you all down south of the border,
Last week I asked if anyone had experience advertising in Niche
magazine, which is related to the Philadelphia Buyer's Market show,
and no one responded. So, now I'd like to know whether anyone has used
the Wholesale Crafts Website? Or, any other "to the trade only"
wholesale website?
If you have, has it been worthwhile? Have you made successful
wholesale contacts?
I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.
thanks,
Celia Hirsh
