yes, there is something in the air.
good quality craft is coming back, sales are
good everywhere.

several local potters have reported good sales, and
i have had a great fall.

richard, i am doing a double sale.
900 cards sent for november sale,
then i will send cards for a one day sale
on december 19th. i will be very selective
with the second mailing. just in that 40 mile circle.
maybe 500 cards.
i have left studio set up for sales..folks are stopping
now and then. that means i am a bit bored, but doing
other things. repair and maintenance.

i will report the results of the double sale.

Hello Everyone!

I make pots, teach and am a studio artist at the Moshier Community Art
Center in Burien, Washington. Moshier is an extraordinary facility that is
part of the Burien Parks and Recreation Department. Every year, there are =
2
student sales - Spring and late Fall. This sale has been taking place for
many, many years and draws repeat and new customers who line up beginning
around 8:30 am for our 10:00 am opening. For the last 3 years or so, sales
at our student sale (studio artists participate in this sale as well) have
declined little by little. On top of that, a substantial portion of the
population in our area are fairly low income and come to our sale looking
for bargains.

The student sale was held this past Saturday with stunning results! Our
sales were up from last December by about $3000! There is definitely a
change in the way people are spending their money and what they are spendin=
g
it on. We are thrilled! Some small portion of this money always goes
toward scholarships for one or two of the programs offered by our Parks
Department. My own sales at this event nearly quadrupled! Shocking and
quite lovely.

The studio artists started putting on sales twice a year about 3 years ago
and we are still building the event. There are 6 of us and our combined
mailing lists total somewhere in the neighborhood of 1200-1500 customers.
We do provide a list for new customers to add their names and email/snail
mail addresses plus anything particular they might be interested in. We
also have music, hot spiced cider and nice goodies to snack on while people
shop.

All in all, it's been a good year.

Merry Christmas, Buon Natale, Feliz Navidad, Mele Kalikimaka, God Jule!
