Hi All,
I have a 10 year old or thereabouts pacifica wheel which has begun to have =
an irritating belt squeak. Since I don`t have desqueaking instructions wit=
h it, only some silica lubricant which came with the wheel, I checked the a=
rchives for how to get rid of it.
It seems there are a lot of different ideas: use the silicone lubricant on=
ly not too much, don`t ever use the silicone lubricant or you`ll be sorry,=
use WD 40, don`t, use talcum powder, use paraffin wax.
So I am looking at the belts and wondering which of these routes would be t=
he best to take. Or maybe there is another more up to date one. Has anyon=
e else had this problem recently and cured it, I;d really appreciate kno=
wing.
Many thanks Frances Howard

we have 20 or so of these at work. they gave us a can of silicone
spray with teflon when we got the wheels. works great to stop
squeeks. I figure if that is what they sell with the wheels, that is
the stuff to use. things like wd-40 or wax will pick up dirt and the
like. silicone spray when dry will not attract more junk and
contaminants onto the belts.
the other option is to go ahead and replace the belts, since they are
probably getting worn out after 10 years anyway, especially if you use
it much.
you can order the belts from mcmaster-carr (industrial supply house).
somewhere I have the part number, or you can search the archives.
