Yeah, that's what I was talking about in an earlier post! Ron, are your
glazes designed for dipping or for brushing?

If for brushing, dipping will always be a pig. You'd be better to switch
to glazes formulated for dipping. The brushing ones contain all sorts of
things to make them spread better, and dry more slowly.

Days?

Minutes should be the usual time for a re-dip,
even in a damp climate, not days. In fact, it's
far more likely to peel off if the first coat is too
dry than if it's too wet. If it's too wet, it won't peel
at all; it'll just wash away. The fact that it's
peeling off shows that you are probably
waiting too long!

The wetter the first coat is when redipping,
the thinner the top coat will be, but unless the
bisque was fully saturated before the first dip,
it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to be
ready to re-dip. As soon as the visible shininess
from the water has gone away, you are usually
safe to re-dip. Waiting longer will ensure a
thicker coat, but waiting too long is often a
source of trouble. As the dry layer reabsorbs
water and the particles are pushed apart, the
glaze can expand right off the clay.
