We have made up about eight different simple jigs which we use for
measuring and cutting up pugged logs of clay into measured sections of
clay. Envision four pieces of 2" x 3/4" strips of wood joined together to
form a rectangular frame approx 16" long by 9" wide. This rectangle is
crossed with copper wires strung tightly across the opening of the
rectangle by using screws at certain intervals. We have jigs that produce
half-cup "cookies" of clay through 6 cup "cookies" of clay. With one quick
pass of the jig over a pugged log of clay we can obtain numerous portions
of clay that are measured and deaired. Save LOTS of time. The pugmill
saves so much TIME and LABOR by organizing your clay into a workable
deaired log and then with these jigs used to slice up the log, the clay is
quickly divided into portions ready to be thrown on the wheel head. These
tools conserve labor also conserves wear and tear on your body especially
your wrists and your back. ...Marshall
