Arnold,

I've been selling cameras for over a year now. I usually ask people what
they plan to shoot and what there budget is and then I find the best camera
for the money and intended use. Since this is for travel/biz shots, for
compact, the best in my opinion is the Canon 960is or 780is (smallest of th=

These are probably the best compact cameras out on the market at this time
for the money. The 960is has a lens (wide angle) that is probably close to
an L series glass even though it doesn't say it is by the quality and
sharpness of the images I've printed from it at work--that is truly an
amazing little camera. The 780is, is the most compact and with a view
finder. Also, excellent print quality. I like that it has a viewfinder as
well but would opt for the 960is.

If you want something with some more zoom, go sx120 (uses double A
batteries) and for $200 and a bit larger size, its something to
consider--but not the quality of lens the 960is is.

I think I would go personally for this camera because of what's under the
hood, Canon S90is:

=3D
+-+Black/9491917.p?id=3D3D1218115079319&skuId=3D3D9491917

This also has what I would describe as a L-series quality glass and a wide
angle lens fully auto and also fully creative control. The g11 is also
worth looking into but is not a compact. The s90is is like a miniaturized
version of it. Built like a tank as well and still could fit in your
pocket. Check B&Hphoto as well. And of course, stay away from online
places where the camera is half the retail price. If you are near a Best
Buy, they have no restocking fees so you have 2 weeks to figure out if its
the camera for you.

Take Care

Tony,
Very bad information! Best Buy charges a 15% restocking fee on digital
cameras. Just checked the sales slip on my pocket reader that they will no=

t
take back even though I am within the time period. However I am still
fighting. Hope you don't actually work for Best Buy which in my opinion
should be renamed Best Buyer Beware.

Paul, I do work there part time and folks bring back cameras frequently
within 2 weeks and premier members get 45 day return period. I would raise
holy hell and find out what's going on. My understanding over a year ago i=
=3D
t
was world wide with waving the restocking fee. Tell me what store and I
will ask my manager to look into it. Better yet, ask for the store number
and the name of the person who denied you. I will look into it.

Tony,

Appreciate the offer but have already been through the store, customer
relations, and customer relations supervisor. Next we go to Best Buy CEO
and then we go to the nuclear option. In short, my wife bought the reader
and the sales slip has a totally different model no. than the one we
purchased so the store will not take the return. As a matter of fact the
store inventories did not even show the model we purchased to be in stock a=
=3D
t
the time. Somehow the store managed to get a totally different number on
the sales slip from the one we purchased. The store manager says this can'=
=3D
t
happen so my guess is the store is running some type of scam with obsolete
models.

As for Best Buys return policy just check any sales slip.

Best wishes

Paul

Lee Love on fri 8 jan 10

I really like my Canon A640. Is 10mp, has a lot of manual controls, a
swivel view screen and uses AA batteries. It was reviewed with high
praise when it first came out. And was inexpensive at the time for a
10mp camera.

I am afraid that they don't make a current version exactly like it.

There is the PowerShot A1100IS 12.1 MP, which is more compact, but
does not have the swivel LCD but is more compact and is only $129.00

and the Canon PowerShot A650IS 12.1MP which is more pricey.

There are so many good affordable cameras out there. You kinda need
to match up your needs to the camera.
