I think you need a different recipe for terra sig. I use a recipe that
settles in three hours and is ready
to use right away - unless for some reason you really need it extra
thick. This recipe is in my DVD
and it happens that the Ceramic Arts Bookstore put that portion of the
DVD up for you to download free at
http://ceramicartsdaily.org/bookstore/pit-firing-and-burnishing/

I hope this doesn't sound like a shameless plug for the DVD, but I do
think that might be a solution for you.

It doesn't hurt it, but it makes a terrible mess - splatters all over =3D
the place. Think bubbling mud pots at Yellowstone. =3D20

1.13 is still a little too thin for application. Just keep it warm, and =
=3D
it will quickly get to 1.15. We bought some huge stainless steel mixing =3D
bowls online. I put my sig in those and set them on a shelf in the =3D
toploader electric kilns up on 12" posts, and set the kiln on preheat =3D
overnight. I just dry the stuff out completely, and then reconstitute =3D
it as I need it. I put the dry sig in water overnight, and then thin to =
=3D
the desired consistency the next day. =3D20

Okay,

Was there a reason why one shouldn't boil terra suspensions down? I
keep thinking there is. I've had to put the sig on the stove because
I'm running out of time here. Looks like 2 L of settled sig condensed
down to about 400 mL is giving me 1.13 or so.

Man I've got to get things cleaned up in the garagio. I STILL can't
find my 100cc syringes or other graduated containers. Math is hard!

Be good everyone,
