This (below) came to my web-based email account today. Is anyone
familiar with it? Is it worth the cost? Is it any better than etsy?

Thanks,
Jackson Gray

Do you wholesale your pottery? We work with thousands of buyers from
gift shops, boutiques, independent stores and large chains around the
country. We help them locate products we think will sell in their
stores. I think your pottery would be a great fit. We guarantee sales
plus you can pick and choose who you want to sell to. If you're
interested in selling your products to more stores visit us at

I trust stuff like this about as far as I can throw a 20 stone man with my
little finger into a storm force head wind!
Ask them which pieces in particular they liked; I'll bet you don't get a
straight answer, if in fact they answer at all.

Jackson...

I would be willing to bet that this is nothing but a scam. Their website
just reeks of it. Too much hyperbole.

"There are over 1.6 million stores!" Big deal. How many are their
customers? They never say.

"The stores contact you directly, and you deal directly with them." They
sell this like it's a benefit, but what it really says is "we do nothing fo=
r
you".

"Stores can search for products to buy by category" Why would they want
to? I can't picture a store buyer, who is already deluged by sales reps,
wholesalers, catalogs, sitting at her desk and saying "I think I'll spend
some time randomly searching a website to see if there are any products tha=
t
might be good for my store."

This strikes me like the pay-to-play fake art galleries, who make their
money from the exhibitors rather than by selling art. A real art gallery
doesn't charge the artists, and a real sales rep doesn't charge you
anything, they just take a cut of what they sell for you. These folks
charge you for nothing more than the privilege of listing your stuff on
their website, but can't prove that anyone actually looks at that website.
They talk about how many stores there are in the world, but no mention of
how many of them are signed up as buyers on their site (hint: likely starts
with a "z", and rhymes with hero).

I did a google search on "scam intostores.com". Here is one interesting
post:
http://kirk-burleson.blogspot.com/2010/01/sellers-and-buyers-beware-of-into=
.html.
They prominently display the Better Business Bureau logo on their
site,
but it does not link to the BBB. According to the BBB site,
intostores.comhas only been a member since October, and there are
already two complaints.

If it were me, I'd avoid them like the plague. Maybe I'm just not a
trusting soul.

Good luck.

BE AWARE, just because a company is listed with the BBB does NOT mean it
is a good company. It only means they have chosen to sign up with them
and agree to voluntarily follow "good business guidelines". The
company may or may not have any customer complaints on file thru the
BBB, if they do you are not able to find out what the problem was only
whether or not the complaint was resolved. The BBB seems like a good
idea but they really do nothing to regulate or guarantee their members.
My husband was scammed for about $2500 from a company listed. He had
checked them out in the BBB and another source but in the end the
company never delivered the product, it's a long story, just know that
being a member of the BBB means nothing more than paying a membership.
