strontium retraction

I have recieved several messages concerning Strontium carbonate. I was
basing my previous message on information I had recieved. I looked up
several of the sources mentioned as well as the EPA and OSHA databases.
There are everal strontium compounds which are extremely toxic -
strontium chromate, sulfide and salts. Strontium carbonate is NOT one of
those. However I would point out that there have been no long term studies
of exposure to strontium as there have been for many of the compounds we
use, including barium. I apologize for not double checking my sources. I
hope I didn't scare anyone.

For what it's worth, the aquatic toxicity limit(fish)for strontium is quite
a bit lower than that of barium. The solubility of strontium carbonate is,
I'm pretty sure higher than that of barium carbonate. Don't know why people
are apparently different. I haven't seen any studies either.

many ducks along the Hanford Reach of the Columbia River.
