Carina-
An interesting point. I have been a potter ans struggling with painting
on my pots for many years- at least 8 I think. I am still unsure as to
whether or not to call myself an artist. I know I act like an artist-
I'll spend an absurd proportion of my income to acheive an effect- I'll go
to great lengths to develop a shape- once working a year on a single
fountain design. But I still hesitate. I suppose partly because I don't
do a lot of selling. But I make my income as a psychotherapist and don't
need to focus on selling my pottery. I think I primarily don't consider
myself an artist because I have yet to realize the form and color I am
seeking. Some pieces come close to satisfying me, but most just seem
efforts on the way to something I envision but can't yet embody. Am I an
artist?

ABSOLUTLEY!!!!You sound exactly like one! It is an ongoing process that never
ends. I think if we were happy with what was coming out we would be stuck .
It is a forever thing. Art is always evolving, even in subtle ways. Keep
going.........
