blue bunnies

Dean McRaine quipped that if you put a blue bunny on a plate, it'll
sell. That stung a bit, as I have done a few bunnies in my day. It also
reminded me of a LOL customer (little old lady) shopping with another
LOL. When she saw my bunny bowls, she proceeded to tell her friend
right in front of me how this design was first developed in New England,
blah blah blah. Since the customer is always right, I hadn't the heart
to tell her my bunnies resulted from convergent evolution--a combination
of low drawing talent and having pet rabbits running loose in the yard
for a number of years, resulting in a rudimentary knowledge of their
anatomy. I can also do James Thurber dogs, but who wants to eat off a
dog? Anyway, I think I've seen some Bernard Leach bunnies along the
way, so I feel in good company. And in the Midwest there's Blue Bunny
Ice Cream, so I feel secure in the numbers:-/

At any rate I've sold a few pots off my website, but the bunny bowl is
still there, if you want to see it...

Aloha all (esp. Brad): Didn't mean to hurt any feelings. I've produced a
few cliches myself from time to time. Staying in business is hard enough
without worrying about that. My bottom line on the artistic side is whether
I get excited when I see new work coming out of the kiln. Some of my
favorite pots have had Blue Bunnies on them, really good Blue Bunnies, of
course. I'd take Blue Bunnies 100 to one over soulless modern mental wierdness.
