Last week someone asked about good low fire leadless glazes.
Behrens in his invaluable book "Ceramic Glaze Making" offers:
A matt almost stony glaze at c 010
Gerstley Borate 75
Wollastonite 6.5
Kaolin 11.2
Flint 6.9
I did a rough tentative recalculation on GlazeMaster to get rid of the =3D
GB
I certainly would try it:
Recipe Name: behrens I
25 Frit--Ferro 3124
8 Wollastonite
5 Kaolin--EPK
38 Total
-----------------------------------
Calculations by GlazeMasterT
www.masteringglazes.com
------------------------------------
Dense opalescent glaze c.05
WollaStonite 14.2
Hommel Frit 14 (Ferro 3134) 34.5
Pot spar 30.1
Kaolin 9.3
Flint 11.9
I could go on--from his book or others, but I won't. The Behrens book =3D
is a treasure trove, and it is available second hand. I do not know the =
=3D
difference between first and later editions--my guess is that he may =3D
have dropped all lead--but it is indispensable.=3D20

Most in the handouts are leadless. Ron pointed out one with a lead frit:

I just reviewed the PDF and there are no lead glazes - as it should be.
