Howdy,
=3D20
This is Lee Burningham and I'm running for Secretary/Treasurer of NCECA at =
=3D
Philadelphia. I'm a 30 year art teacher in the public schools of Utah and =
=3D
hope to be one of the people, a fellow Clayarter, you will talk with at =3D
NCECA in the near future to influence scheduling, conferences, available =
=3D
services, etc.,. I am running for the position of Secretary/Treasurer at =
=3D
Philadelphia. Note that I said 30 year art teacher, not 30 year old =3D
teacher. Did I say I was running for Secretary/Treasurer for NCECA? I've =
=3D
been attending NCECA conferences since Tempe in '91. The annual NCECA =3D
conference has become a tradition in my pottery universe. I'm the crazy =3D
high school pottery teacher with the tradition of dragging some of my =3D
students along behind me each year.=3D20
=3D20
My NCECA experience includes participation in the origination and =3D
development of the National K-12 Ceramics Exhibition. I am a current vice =
=3D
president of the National K-12 Ceramics Exhibition Foundation. A former =3D
president and current board member of the Dean F. and Bessie Peterson =3D
Foundation for Cache Valley Arts, an arts foundation in Logan, Utah, that =
=3D
has given out over $40,000 in financial assistance to arts programs =3D
throughout northern Utah over the past few years, I am no stranger to =3D
making arts organizations successfully function within financial constraint=
=3D
s.
=3D20
I'm here for the Education in the Ceramic Arts. I'm here for the traditions=
=3D
of NCECA. I'm here for an organization that has almost 50 years of =3D
amazing energy, education, and elocution in the ceramics arena. I've been =
=3D
making and selling pots for 42 years. I've been teaching in one capacity =
=3D
or another for over 30 years. I did graduate work in ceramics at Utah =3D
State University. I've been the art department head of multiple schools. I =
=3D
have run my own construction business since 1976 and the Clay Crewe for =3D
more than a dozen years. During these years of business management, I have =
=3D
developed a comfortable working knowledge of tax laws and practical =3D
accounting to satisfy myself and the IRS as my own bookkeeper. These =3D
skills will travel with me to the NCECA Secretary/Treasurer's chair where =
=3D
I can use them to our advantage.=3D20
=3D20
I am Lee Burningham and I'm one of you. I am a Charter Member of the =3D
Potter's Council. I am a studio potter. I am an educator, spreading the =3D
ceramics gospel to an upcoming generation of potters. I am a small =3D
business owner. I have the same cares and concerns as you. I am running =3D
for Secretary/Treasurer of NCECA. My background and experience qualifies =
=3D
me for this position. Your vote is needed to make it so.
=3D20
Nominations take place on Wednesday at the first NCECA business meeting. =
=3D
Your presence will be greatly appreciated as a vote of confidence. Your =3D
attendance and vote on Saturday at the Second NCECA Business meeting is =3D
absolutely necessary for me to move forward as your NCECA Secretary/Treasur=
=3D
er. Bring friends ready to vote. I'm ready to work.
=3D20
I'm Lee Burningham and I'm ready to be the next Secretary/Treasurer of =3D
NCECA.

Hello Lee:

I wish you luck, and hope you are the next secretary treasurer, sadly I can=
not vote because I am unable to go to the conference this year. I think it =
is a shame that those of us who are members (since 2000) cannot vote. I thi=
nk there should be a mechanism to vote eaither by internet like Potters cou=
ncil, or by proxy, I think this a major issue that need to be addressed oth=
erwise why be a member when you have no right to vote.

Thanks for all the hard work you put in.
