glaze issue: extra magnesium carbonate

Hi Gina,

Your glaze will be just fine....... not too runny. You are not the
first to mix up magnesium carbonate (a flux) for manganese carbonate
(a colorant) ! You already have a fair amount of magnesia from the
dolomite and the talc so the excess amount of magnesium carbonate will
just make the glaze more matte, But without the manganese carbonate
colorant, the eggplant color will be a much lighter purple than
usual. Cobalt + lots of magnesia + low silica creates a lavender
purple. It is likely that your new glaze will NOT be stable so please
test it before using it on tableware!
