Not sure if anyone else does this, but since my kiln is in my main workspac=
e, when I'm doing anything particularly dusty, I open a window for cross-ve=
ntilation and turn on my kiln vent. Doesn't seem to hurt the kiln or vent,=
and that little sucker (haha! punny!) can clear the room in a hurry.
Personally, I feel that good studio hygiene is more important than a ventil=
ation system, although it's great to have one. Mix glazes on warm days so =
that you can do it outside. If you have a kiln in your workspace, fire it =
on days that you don't need to be in the studio so you don't monoxide yours=
elf. Line your ware shelves with split-open clay bags, so that they are ea=
sy to wipe clean. Paint the studio floor with garage floor paint, or polyu=
rethane so that it is sealed and easy to mop. Spot clean for clay spatters=
every day or two and wipe up glaze spills before they dry...
