Hi,
I'm relatively new to the list, and I have a friend in need. She has a
p[iece of china that her mother painted for her. Her mother now has
alzheimers, and the piece was recently broken. Is there any type of glue
that you can recommend to try to repiar this piece. She is aware that it
will no longer be perfect, but it is very special to her, and she'd like to
give it a try.
Thanks,
Carol

Carol,
Lots of epoxy glues will work on porcelain. My experience says that the
longer setting glues work better than the 5 minute variety. The hardest
part of glueing ceramics is clamping the pieces together while the glue
sets. Recommend using rubber bands which can be joined together or extende=
d
with string. The main thing is to make absolutely sure of your clamping
system before you even think of applying glue. And be careful of over
applying the glue- a very thin layer is all you need.
Of course if you are dealing with the current types of so called porcelain
which are not really vitreous any good white glue will work.
