Hey Gang,
I have been experimenting with adding iron oxide to various slip casting
bodies and had some interesting results. (I add dry to wet so its not
exactly scientific.)
When I add iron oxide to cone 6 porcelain slip it goes to a purple color
(almost) but when I add the same amount to a stoneware slip it goes toasty
warm. (as expected)
Any idea why the porcelain would go toward purple? (muddy, dark gray,
purple)
I also tested ochre and rutile with somewhat similar results.
thanks!
