Hello,=3D20
=3DA0
I have been studying pottery and working towards beginning a small home bas=
=3D
ed pottery business. I am now in the planning stages and am looking for res=
=3D
ources to help me find a place to begin. I have no idea where to start. Sur=
=3D
e I can add up expenses and costs of various things,=3DA0sales, etc=3DA0on =
my o=3D
wn, but I know there is a whole lot more to it=3DA0than that. =3DA0
=3DA0
I am wondering if anyone has some proper advice or suggestions for small bu=
=3D
siness planning. Especially helpful would be book title suggestions, websit=
=3D
es, programs, etc.
=3DA0
My business idea is very small scale: a home based pottery marketed locally=
=3D
(Blue Hill Peninsula, Maine and surounding regions), woodfired and some sa=
=3D
lt glazed functional ware mostly, cottage industry to support my family. We=
=3D
are in our early 30s expecting our first child. We have no debt of any kin=
=3D
d and own=3DA0a house with attached studio and some equipment, but no kiln =
or=3D
=3DA0pug mill yet. We have worked very hard and I think we have prepared ou=
rs=3D
elves financially, now I want to make sure I don't screw it up.=3DA0
=3DA0
I tried=3DA0Amazon.com and google. I am sure I saw some good books and foun=
d =3D
some good websites, but which ones are best? Any recommendations greatly ap=

A useful primer is "Making Your Woodworking Pay for Itself", by Jack Neff
(ISBN 0-89879-534-6). The first three chapters are mostly related to wood,
but the rest of the book is applicable to any craft.
