Dot,

In my Alaska shop we often did projects based on thirds - 1/3 to the
shop, the remaining two thirds were divided by however many others
besides myself were working. But with two working it's easy - divide
sales by three, with the shop getting 1/3. I have done this for years. .

We are having a tough time figuring out the finances of it. Here's the th=
ing: I own (and pay rent on) the studio where we work. It is all my equip=
ment. I have bought the clay, the glazes, etc. We are both putting our ti=
me into pieces together, and we want to sell at retail shows. We also sell=
in my gallery (attached to the studio). How can we possibly figure out ho=
w much we should each get paid for our work?

Dot
We have a similar situation at our workshop.
Given all the parameters you mention & your fellow
potter putting in ~50% of the labour to run things,
I would suggest 1/3 of return to them & 2/3 to you.
Or, as we see it, they get 1/3, you get 1/3, the
business gets 1/3.
