The iron in your dark clay body, even with a light slip over it will migrat=
e up into the glaze at cone 11.
At lower temps, things stay put more.
Break a few fired pots and you will see that striated layers are clear and =
separate at lower temps, but the clay at very high temps, unless very thick=
, is more the same all the way through.
Too much of this and you have high fired work that is essentially glass all=
the way through, in the case of porcelain, which you say you are using.
That's my guess. I am not a glaze-head, nor do I play one on clayart.

I did a firing yesterday, trying 3 new glazes.
Results were not as I expected, which is not to say they were all
dissapointing, but I am still fumbling a bit with this aspect of my craft.
