Stoneware gas reduction kilns heat from top to bottom can also be =3D
controlled with the damper. If the kiln is hot at the top , damper more =
=3D
to cause the top of the kiln to have more reduction, this will slow the =3D
top temp down and the bottom will catch up. If the bottom is too hot =3D
pull the damper some and the top of the kiln will catch up. Usually the =
=3D
center of a gas kiln ma be slightly hotter. My kiln fires exactly even =3D
top to bottom. My bag wall is only 15 inches tall. It is over 5 feet =3D
tall of firing space. I use a different floor system than most =3D
stoneware kilns. I will put those pictures on Flickr. After the =3D
pictures are up tomorrow, if anone has any questions about the floor, =3D
please write. The floor is mostly responsible for the even reduction and =3D
even fire, top to bottom. Pictures of my kiln is on Flickr now. and =3D
there are pictures of m kilns etc.

Bill
For the sake of conversation-Why did you design the burners coming in from
the side? If they came in through the bottom do you think that would
eliminate the need for bag-wall entirely?
