anyone out there using clay with mica in it

Years ago when I first began with clay and Clayart, #1 =3D0ASupport Person =

d I camped next to a young Native=3D0AAmerican woman and her Cowboy husband=

=3DA0 They were=3D0Aon their way to a rodeo where the husband expected=3D0A=

several awards, based on his past experiences.=3D0A=3D0AWe were returning =

Metchosin (British Columbia,=3D0AVancouver Island) where I'd had a life-ch=

ging=3D0Aexperience because Robin Hopper finally consented to=3D0Alet me,=
=3DA0 wi=3D
th lower than beginner status, attend his two=3D0Aweek glaze and color deve=
lo=3D
pment class.=3DA0 It was there=3D0Athat I learned just how kind potters can=
be,=3D
which allowed=3D0Ame to freely ask questions which had commonly known=3D0A=
answ=3D
ers.... but not common to me!=3DA0 =3D0A=3D0AMy co-students and Robin so ch=
arged =3D
my=3D0Aenergy bank that I was ready when the young Native=3D0AAmerican woma=
n of=3D
fered me an earthen ware appearing=3D0Apot with mica in the clay.=3DA0 I kn=
ew a=3D
bout mica since #1 and=3D0AI moved west for one reason.... which was to stu=
dy=3D
and=3D0Alearn more about geological formations and the stuff of=3D0Awhich =
they=3D
were made.=3DA0 This kind young woman and I=3D0Abecame friends and exchang=
ed l=3D
etters and cards for several=3D0Ayears.=3D0A=3D0AThe point is that she=3DA0=
pinched =3D
the pots while I watched, let them=3D0Aset for a bit and then fired them in=
h=3D
er oven (which probably=3D0Ahad mica in its insulation? Ironic, eh? And won=
de=3D
rful.) I was=3D0Afascinated by her work.=3DA0 I bought several from her sin=
ce t=3D
hey=3D0Awere paying for the road trip by selling her pots.... and she=3D0Ag=
ave =3D
us tickets to the rodeo which was in Sedro Wooley,=3D0AWAshington.=3DA0 We =
went=3D
and continued to have a very special=3D0Atime.=3DA0 Thank goodness we were=
bot=3D
h old enough to KNOW=3D0Athat we were incredibly fortunate.... right place =
an=3D
d time for=3D0Aus, for sure.=3D0A=3D0AI would have attempted to follow her =
lead a=3D
nd make my own=3D0Apots, experiment with mica and how far I could push it, =
bu=3D
t=3D0Athen I fell in love with Shino and there went another five years.=3D0=
AAct=3D
ually I still love Shino and have a load of shinoes building=3D0Aright now =
as=3D
I type.=3DA0 Met Dannon, Mel, Tony and others who=3D0Ahelped me on that jo=
