Many thanks to Lee for sharing this piece. Warren Mackenzie is a
well-known and respected potter with much to be admired, but one thing
that jumped out at me was the dried clay slop all over his studio plus
the casual way he brushed the glaze bottom of his pot and blew the dust
away. I hate to think that a new potter - or the public might see this
casual attitude toward safety and think it is the norm...or acceptable.

Jackson,

This has come up here with Mack videos before. I've
never felt endangered in his studio (he has actually focused on a
clean. The suede brush isn't a problem with his glazes and the state
he cleans them. I learned to scrape jomon zogan at a much dryer
stage. You just have to be careful not to kick the debris up.

Also, you need to get around and look at some studios of
working potters. There is a range of cleanliness and MacKenzie isn't
at the extreme end. Actually, he has made it a focus to keep a
cleaner studio in the last couple years.
