I just looked at the images of work from the Seventh Annual Marge Brown Kal=
odner
Graduate Student Exhibition, and I am at a loss... Reading the prospectus, =
I was
informed that this is the creme de la creme of recent MFA graduates, but I =
was
largely unimpressed. The choices seem not to be extraordinary in any way. I=
n
fact, the only astonishing thing about many of the entries was... their pr=
ice.
I believe that one could put together a show equal to this one, just pickin=
g
work from a random selection of MFA programs across the country. I came awa=
y
thinking that some of the entries were selected only because the students a=
re
graduates of our "top" MFA programs. Which begs the question: If the empero=
r is
threadbare, at best, is The Clay Studio doing a good thing for these young
artists singing praises to the clothes?
