Hi All,
Does anyone have the original formula for Wirt Shino?
I have a wood firing coming up soon and would like to try a bit.
Thanks in advance.

*Spodumene 36.1 *

*EPK 12 *

*Soda Ash 9.6*

*"It was my sister's work in a class with Warren MacKenzie in 1974 that
apparently started the long chain of "New World" shinos. At the time she
named it University Carbon Trap (UCT) which has been seen in variations in
many schools and studios. She used Spodumene and soda ash as key components
and NephSyenite because it was 'less pure', i.e. had more oxides than other
spars."*

**UCT...University
Carbon Trap which showed up in many places.*

*The Shino was discussed in Jim Robinson's Article in the December 1992
Studio Potter along with many others. Virginia Wirt had 2 recipes she
developed while in Warren MacKenzie's classes at the U of Minn in the
mid-seventies." - Tom Wirt*
