The "*empirical* information gained by means of observation, experience, o=

unappreciated in our day and place.

I came across a book on the Crusades and the Knights' Templar. This
led me to books by the same author on Freemasons. I further searched out
other books on the history of the Freemasons. Many of the books describe
the old guilds and fraternities that grew up after the Plague. Masons
building the cathedrals of Europe, were originally free agents. But later
they were often simply contracted by their customers.

I highly recommend researching the old guilds and craft unions.
