Cathi -
You do not want to take any chances on a respirator. I would not waste my
money on this one. Buy a brand-name respirator from one of the reputable
makers. To learn more about them, please go to my handout on studio safety
at http://iweb.tntech.edu/wpitelka/safety.htm. In the handout there is a
link to Lab Safety Supply, one of the main suppliers of industrial safety
equipment. They carry most of the major brands of respirators. You
purchase the respirator in separate components, and you can get
hypoallergenic or regular face-piece, and you can select small, medium or
large to fit your face. After that, you select the P-100 cartridges to
filter out even the finest silica particles. You can also select cartridge=
s
to handle solvents and paints if you anticipate the need. The Harbor
Freight respirator carries no guarantee that it will fit your face, and it
is very doubtful that it will protect you from the finest silica particles,
and they are the most dangerous.

Once you find the respirator and filters you want, you could shop around
from other suppliers and find the best deal. Good luck -
