one way to make bats that fit on wheelheads without pins is to cut out a
good grade of plywood to an circumference greater than your wheelhead and
attach (with high grade glue) three short pieces of plywood onto the
underside of the bat that meet the shape of the wheelhead and polyurethane
them well. Mine have lasted for over 10 years. you slip them on and twist
slightly if needed to tighten the connection. The plywood is 1/2 in thick.
