DJ,

I am guessing that the type of reds you are looking for at cone 6 are
iron red glazes. I get a few emails a month asking questions about
how I obtain my iron reds at cone 6. Usually the sender asks how I
got my glazes to look red, while theirs turned out brown. To save
time responding, I posted a FAQ called "Solutions for troubleshooting
iron red glazes". It outlines procedures you can use to get iron reds
to work in your kiln. Also on my site are some recipes for iron reds
and oranges you can try at cone 6.

On the other hand, if you are looking for fire engine red glossy
glazes, just order some Cerdec red stain and add it to a glossy glaze
base.

John --
thanks so much. I've read your page before about obtaining reds -- but
it was the page about tomato reds. I am looking for a glossy red so the
solution is fairly simple i see.
Thanks for your help.

Hi John - I have never used these stains. Any guidance as to how much to
add to get a nice red and also, any recommendations as to a good choice for
the glossy base glaze? Thanks, MJ
