Larry, this discussion fits the upcoming "the shoulders we stand on" compet=
=3D
ition of the Potters Council very well.=3D20

I was influenced by more than just potters. I can single out an era of pott=
=3D
ers( 1970's)=3DC2=3DA0rather than one particular potter, although I have to=
say=3D
that my list of inspirational potters are longer than my arm. On top of th=
=3D
at my list of other artists from g lass, wood, fiber etc. is even longer. F=
=3D
or many years that was a hinderance rather than a benefit, because it confu=
=3D
ses. One day one want to create pieces like this and the next pieces like t=
=3D
hat. I am one of those kind of people that prefer to stand in my own sunshi=
=3D
ne rather than standing in the shadow of someone else. Because of that I am=
=3D
constantly trying to find my own niche where I can set the trend rather th=
=3D
an follow it. Although there is notheing new under the sun, I also believe =
=3D
that ALL artists should=3DC2=3DA0follow that approach, since that encourage=
s in=3D
dividuality and diversity.=3D20

What I did not realize is that my style of work was formed in the very earl=
=3D
y days of me doing pottery. It was during the time that everything came out=
=3D
thick and clumsy. Looking back at those beginner days, I realize that I wa=
=3D
s so focused on doing clay right, that any artistic matters at the time cam=
=3D
e unintentional and from my subconcience. Now that I am comfortable with my=
=3D
craft skills, I find that I do the very same things of many years before, =
=3D
but I do it better. As I describe it on my own website, nature; its rhythm =
=3D
and movement, =3DC2=3DA0is and was my biggest inspiration. When I find anot=
her =3D
potter that inspires me, it always turns out that executing good craftsmens=
=3D
hip is on the forefront. Then comes interpretation: Could the artist use go=
=3D
od craft skills to be a good artist.=3D20

Here is a list of( mostly) porcelain =3DC2=3DA0artists that inspires me. I =
inte=3D
ntionally chose several from abroad to push the ..................fences...=
